When Mommy Goes Away!
Meet Christian! He is 8 years old. A 3rd grader, who spends his time playing video games, riding his bike, shooting hoops with his dad, and hanging out with his sister, Kaliya. His mother passed away when he was only 2 years old. Christian is surrounded by a family that has helped him navigate the loss of his mother, which has helped him live an emotionally balanced life. In spite of the loss of his mother, he is well-rounded understands he will get to see his mother again someday.
This page is dedicated to Christian whose mannerisms, love for GOD made an impact on my life. At two years old Christian lost his mother to Leukemia. He "has to learn to navigate life without her, while continuing to hold on to her memories." With his GrandEva (grandmother) he complied a book. The book, "When Mommy Goes Away". "Shares snippets of the ups and downs of his life without a mommy." Mourning has no age limit, it needs space for proper healthy expression. The death of a parent is always hard, especially when a child has to face life without that parental figure. His GrandEva describes this journey best, "even at two years of age, he understood that his mother would not be returning home but struggled to fully grasp the why she would no longer be present in his life." Unlike many children who today have lost parents to COVID-19, Christian was able to be in the hospital with his mother during her final stages of life.
